Case video: Straumann® Pro Arch Fixed Solutions. Immediate loading with four straight Straumann BLT implants

“It is a privilege to treat patients and not a right. Each patient has specific needs and we should follow their needs”

Initial situation: A 79-year-old male patient, wanted to be treated with the minimal amount of surgical procedures, and his main wish was to be able to chew again properly. He was very cost sensitive and aesthetics was for him irrelevant.

Treatment: The treatment plan was performed with a computer software and included the use of four straight Straumann® BLT implants in the lower jaw. Following local anesthesia, and a mid-crestal incision was done. The flap was raised with minimal trauma, the inflamed tissue was removed, and the bone level was adjusted. The implant bed was prepared with the help of a guide and the manufacturer’s protocol was followed. Two implants were placed behind the mental foramina and two in front of it, providing an ideal spread. The placement of implants in resorbed bone led to the need of bone augmentation around the exposed surfaces of the implant. After the surgical procedures, the bite registration was performed, and the impression was sent to the laboratory. Couple of hours later, the temporary prosthesis was placed on the patient and the occlusion was checked.

Treatment outcome: The patient’s expectations were fulfilled as he was able to have a fixed immediate restoration, that allowed him to go back home the same day of the surgery and recover the chewing function.

Patient’s testimonial: “I can enjoy a proper meal now. I can basically eat anything that is on the table there's no fear of something that could give me trouble. I have no problems at all so far. Now cleaning the prosthesis is fairly easy. I can floss and brush my teeth in the morning and evening. There is no problem, there's no duties to worry about. Smile is not a problem, because it looks very decent.”
