Concept and design rooted in biomechanics and biology

Ophir Fromovich describes Straumann® BLX and TLX as a novel dental implant design rooted in years of experience, biomechanical research, and natural inspiration. Unlike older implants that require extensive bone engagement and often result in cortical bone resorption, the X-design emphasizes bone preservation and biological harmony. The implant integrates a dual-thread structure that enables both cutting and condensing functions. This allows for great bone stability, especially in immediate loading situations, and mimics the function of the natural lamina dura.

Advanced functionality and surgical versatility

A standout feature of the X-Lines is the dual-thread and variable-thread design, allowing it to adapt to both soft and hard bone conditions by cutting, condensing, and collecting bone as needed. With these capabilities, the implant acts more like a dynamic instrument than a static fixture. It ensures strong primary stability even in challenging clinical scenarios like soft bone, large defects, or sinus lifts. Clinicians can place it subcrestally to preserve cortical bone and support the gingiva, enabling a biological seal and long-term esthetics. The system supports a universal abutment platform, making clinical workflows streamlined and efficient.
